We all need that one wig for those bad hair days. These beauties will instantly transform your current look within seconds, as well as boost your confidence. Its easy to neglect what goes on underneath the our units but we must also take care of the foundation. Let's not end up with damaged hair underneath, let's keep loving our own.
How to get the most out of your wig without damaging your hair
1. Scalp massage
Give your scalp regular massages to help with blood flow. Sometimes our wigs can become tight due to the band, so to help with blood flow circulation give it a good massage. and try loosening the band so that theres not too much pressure applied. Shampoo: Shampoo and condition your hair regularly with deep treatments to aid growth.
2. Scalp
Always grease your scalp with oils and moisturisers regularly to avoid breakage. Try using a water-based moisturising product. Then lock the moisture in with an oil such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil or olive oil.
3. Trimming
Have regular trims to get rid of dead ends. This will also aid your hair to grow faster and to remain healthy. Its recommended to trim every 8-12 weeks to keep it healthy and tangle free.
4. Sleeping
Never sleep with your wig on, as your scalp needs to breath. Apply a water based moisturiser before bed. Always wear a silk head wrap or sleep on a silk pillow to avoid friction and breakage.
5. Under wraps
Make sure your braid pattern is sitting flat, so you will need to make sure your braids are small to medium in size. I like to braid all the way back from crown to the nape. The smaller the braid the better the wig unit will sit, which will make it look less wiggy.
